5 Ways to Keep Your IBE Extensions Looking Fresh Between Appointments

Who doesn’t want to have good hair at all times? Here are 5 easy ways to keep your extensions looking fresh in between appointments

  1. Don’t skip your brushing routine!

I recommend brushing your hair 1x in the morning and another time at night before going to bed to keep hair tangle-free AND stimulate hair growth! When brushing your wefts, make sure to place your free hand on that weft line to avoid any unnecessary snagging. I like to start from the ends of the hair and work my way up when detangling.

  2. Refresh your roots and scalp!

I recommend typically washing your hair every 5 days as standard (however, everyone’s washing schedule is customized to them and their lifestyle)! If more frequent washing is required, I suggest washing the very top part of your natural hair to refresh your roots in between wash days. To really get in there to ensure your scalp is clean, I suggest parting your hair as follows (going from top of your head to the nape); natural hair in a section, hair extensions by itself, natural hair on its own, hair extensions, and so on and so forth. I like using sideways hands when washing each section 2x to ensure I’m not messing with the weft line too much, but also scrubbing the scalp!

  3. Heat styling once a week

I will only use my heat tools 1x a week and sleep with protective hairstyles at night to encourage my hair to stay wavy/curly. Eternal Muse’s heatless hair curler is also a great option to cut down on heat use as well! Keeping your blow dryer at low-mid heat setting and your irons at 320 degrees or below (highly encourage 300 degrees) will help to make sure your hair stays healthy!

  4. Make sure you’re pre-booking your hair days

4-10 weeks is the range that I’ll go off of during your initial IBE consultation to determine which re-install rotation is perfect for your hair type/texture. This will always be signature to your lifestyle, natural hair’s density, and texture! There truly is no cut-and-dry re-install schedule that works for everyone. That is why it’s so important to pre-book your next hair day at your previous hair day!

  5. Treat your hair to a hydrating hair mask

The Goldie Locks hydrating hair mask is the perfect hair spa treatment you can do at home to revitalize your strands in between hair days!
